Does your registry have different mare books? If so, please list and explain each.

AHHA: Yes. Auxiliary Mare Book - In the Auxiliary Mare Book will be listed those qualified mares who entered the breeding program prior to January 1, 1989 and have not been presented at an official AHHA Approval or, upon presentation scored below minimum Studbook requirements. These mares may produce Registry Book foals. Provisional Mare Book - Mares that by pedigree qualify for inclusion in the AHHA studbooks, but fail to attain the minimum height, may enter the Provisional Mare Book. Upon fulfillment of the appropriate requirements, these mares may be upgraded into the appropriate mare book. Mare Book - To be eligible for listing in the Mare Book, candidates must attain a minimum score of 39 points at an official AHHA Approval with no subgroup less than four. Main Mare Book - To be eligible for listing in the Main Mare Book, candidates must attain a minimum score of 43 points at an official AHHA Approval with no subgroup less than five. Main Mare Premium Book - To be eligible for listing in the Main Mare Premium Book, candidates must attain a minimum score of 46 points at an official AHHA Approval with no subgroup less than six. |

AHS: Yes. Pre-Studbook (PS) - mares placed in this book according to a combination of (1) breed, (2) dam's studbook status, and (3) scores. Studbook (S) - based on studbook status of dam and scores. Main Studbook - mares are placed in this book according to a combination of (1) breed, (2) dam's studbook status; and (3) scores. |

ATA: Yes. OSB = Official Stud Book. PSB = Preliminary Stud Book. OSB = Purebred mares and offspring of PSB mares. PSB = Anglo-Trakehner, Arab-Trakehner and Thoroughbred, Arab and Shagya. |

ISR/OLD: Mares, three years old or older, may be eligible for one of the following mare books: (1) Oldenburg Main Mare Book (and Premium Mare Book): * An overall score of not less than 94 points (105 points for Premium Mare Book) and no individual score of less than 5.0 points (6.0 points) at mare inspection (out of 150 possible). * Proof of pedigree of at least 3 generations with more than 75% approved bloodlines and an official registration documentation from an approved registry. (2) ISR Mare Book: * An overall score of not less than 90 points and no individual score of less than 5 points. * Proof and official documentation (from an approved registry) of pedigree based on more than 50% approved sporthorse bloodlines. (3) ISR Pre Mare Book: * Mares without an appropriate proof of pedigree of an approved registry, but whose overall score is not less than 90 points and no individual score of less than 5 points. |

NASFA: At birth, fillies may be registered as Selle Francais, Facteur Selle Francais, Cheval de Selle (not a stud book level) or French Anglo-Arab. Registration level is dependent on the registration of the sire and dam. To view all registration possibilities, please click here. |

NA/WPN: Mares may be registered in the Studbook (STB), the Foalbook (VB), Register A, Register B or have a Certificate of Pedigree (CP). CP mare is by one WPN parent and a non-sporthorse parent. May not be inspected or move up. Reg B mare is out of a WPN mare and generally by an un-approved stallion. May not be inspected or move up (unless the sire gets approved). Reg A mare is one out of a WPN mare and a WPN Licensed stallion or an Acknowledged Studbook Approved stallion. May be inspected for studbook if she completes the requirements lacking by the sire (vet work or performance). Or out of a TB mare by an approved WPN stallion. VB mare is one who has not yet been inspected for studbook. No other requirements need to be met. STB mare is one who has been successfully inspected as an adult and been entered into the studbook. |

Is it possible for a mare to move up to the book above? If so, how?

AHHA: Yes. A mare successfully completing the Mare Performance Test may gain one bonit point which may make the horse eligible for upgrade to the next level of mare book provided she did not have a bonit subgroup less than the minimum prescribed for the upgraded level. |

AHS: Thoroughbreds, Anglo-Arabs and Arabians can "jump" one studbook level (from Pre-Studbook to Studbook) if they complete the Mare Performance Test (MPT) with the required score or have an acceptable performance career. Pre-Registry Hanoverian mares may also do the same. |

ATA: No. Mare does not move up, only the offspring. |

ISR/OLD: (a) Mares can move up from Main Mare Book to Premium Mare Book if they had at least 100 points at the inspection and pass the Mare Performance Test with 70% or better and have produced at least one Premium foal. (b) Mares can move up from Mare Book to Main Mare Book if they pass the Mare Performance Test with 70% or better and have produced at least one Premium foal and fulfill the pedigree requirements of the Main Mare Book. |

Does your registry have "predicate" or other special designations for mares? If so, what are the designations and what are the requirements for each?

AHHA: Yes. Elite [E] - Any approved mare that has produced a fully approved (licensed) breeding stallion will be designated "ELITE". The designation [E] will be used wherever the mare's name appears in a pedigree. Main Mare Premium (MMP) - Any mare attaining Main Mare Premium status at an official AHHA Approval will be designated "PREMIUM". The designation MMP will be used wherever the mare's name appears in a pedigree from that day forward. Mare Performance Test (MPT) - Any mare that has successfully completed the Mare Performance Test at an official AHHA inspection site will be designated "MPT". |

AHS: Yes. Hanoverian mares that qualify for the Main Studbook and have either completed the MPT with a qualifying score or submitted sport results may be designated as "Elite Mare Candidates" (EMC). Upon producing a registered Hanoverian foal within a designated three-year time frame, the mare then receives the title of "Elite Mare" (EM). |

Elite - Keur mares that have passed the same radiographic examination as the approved stallions. Sport - Mares that have competed successfully (dressage: 5 scores above 60% at L3 or higher; jumping: 5 clear rounds at 130cm; eventing: 5 events at preliminary level or higher with not more than 72.5 penalty points). Preferent - Mare that has three Star offspring. Prestatie - Mare that has three offspring of Sport quality. |
